This patient in her early fifties had premature aging due to years of heavy smoking. After quitting smoking, she had a mid-face suspension to tighten the skin and create a sharper jawline, as well as a blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) to eliminate excess baggy skin and fat of the upper and lower lids. No visible incisions showed from either of these procedures.
The front view of this patient shows the sagging mid-face and the excess fat and skin of this patient’s eye area. Volume was restored to the cheekbone area by careful plication (folding) of the internal layers of the SMAS (submuscular aponeurotic system). Careful face lifting should always involve the SMAS. The skin was beautifully redraped for a natural result.
